New Croatian megaterminal Rijeka Gateway accelerates Central European exports

The opening of the Rijeka Gateway container terminal in September 2025 is reshaping trade dynamics between Asia and Europe. The EUR 380 million project with an annual capacity of one million containers offers a shorter, more efficient, and more sustainable alternative to congested northern European ports. For Central European countries including Slovakia, it means faster and cheaper access to Asian markets.
